The Bill would cap in-scope payment terms at 60 days, make late-payment interest mandatory at 8% above Bank Rate and give the Small Business Commissioner stronger powers to investigate, adjudicate and fine.
There is a pleasingly British absurdity here: money can move in seconds, yet Parliament may need legislation to persuade a large customer that 60 days is quite long enough.
Late payment is attrition.
