The Image Clearing System lets banks and building societies exchange digital images of sterling cheques for clearing and settlement. Pay.UK operates the system. A supported banking app can begin that journey without moving the paper between branches.
Pay it in on a weekday before your provider's advertised cut-off and the funds are typically available by 23:59 the next weekday, bank holidays excluded and provided the cheque clears. A Post Office deposit adds at least one day because the cheque must first reach your bank.
